WHATEVER YOU SOW.......

Gen. John Shagaya, the same "lance corporal John Shagaya" who pulled the first trigger that killed his garrison commander LT Col. Okonweze, Major Obienu, Major Orok, and many innocent Igbo officers in the early hours of July 29th 1966 at Abeokuta garrison.
And from there they marched unchallenged to the government house in Ibadan where they kidnapped a very "stupid" visiting head of state Gen.Ironsi, his ADC, Captain Nwankwo, and his host, Lt Col Fajuyi, took them to Iwo village about 10km outskirt of Ibadan where Ironsi and Fajuyi were brutally murdered while captain Nwankwo miraclously escaped through the rare brave help of his trusted northern officer friend Lt. Sani Bello.
After killing Ironsi and Fajuyi, the death squad marched to Agodi prison in Ibadan where Major Don Okafor, one of the five Majors in Nzeogwu's coup of January 15 1966 was being held, violently took him out of his prison room to the nearby bush where he was buried alive.

Now 51 years later after participating in that horrific and brutal massacre of innocent people who happened to belong to the wrong tribe at the time, the same Gen. John Shagaya left his village near Jos travelling to Jos with 4 other occupants and their prado jeep suddenly somersaulted and hit a tree resulting in his death at 75 years of age while 3 other occupants of the same vehicle survived.
What a strange world we live in?
What do we call this? Is it the dreaded law of karma at work here.
May his soul rest in peace if at all there will be peace for him.

ENUGU STATE FULANI COLONIES ...QUESTIONS

Enugu people welcomed  with euphoria  the report  that their state wasn't among the states that welcomed  the  unpopular "Fulani cattle  colonies" of the Buhari administration, but little do they know  that they already have cattle colonies  approved  and established  by the government.

An informed  citizen comment on this  said  ".......Enugu does not have to be in the list because Enugu state sold out many colonies already quietly. This is even more dangerous. There are official cattle colonies in:
  • Obolo afor,
  • Opi, Ehamufu,
  • Mbu,
  • Nomeh,
  • vast land between Okpome (Nenwe) and Ndeabor,
  • and of course nearby Lokpa (outskirts of Enugu). How much more can they get............?" he lamented.
Someone  even added   that a part of the 'milkin hill' area has been given out.
The questions people are asking  are:
  • Who permitted these establishment?
  • Why has nobody ever cautioned on these presence?
  • How  can they be controlled  or dislodged now that they have proved to be bad guests  at the long run?
'Enugu is in the 'hands of God ' as the governors says  but we can see the Fulanis have also a chunk of it already.
Citizens talked to  are  calling on the state government to 'stop the 'peace and soothing nice smiles  on TV and get into real action' because  from their  positioning you are strategically encircled !!

OHANAEZE NDI IGBO WORLDWIDE SANCTIONS FULANI HERDSMEN.

OHANAEZE NDI IGBO WORLDWIDE SANCTIONS FULANI HERDSMEN.

(34-POSITIONS & PRESENTATION OF CONCERNED IMEOBI MEMBERS)
RE: UNPROVOKED MASSACRE OF OUR PEOPLE AT NIMBO, UZOUWANI LGA, ENUGU STATE BY FULANI HERDSMEN , ON MONDAY, THE 25TH DAY OF APRIL, 2016,.
OUR 34 POSITIONS:

1. We have viewed with grave concern, the reckless and callous attitude of the Fulani herdsmen, who had the effrontery to bring down their violence to our peaceful south-eastern states of Nigeria, by recently attacking our defenseless kiths and kin at Nimbo Community, Uzouwani, LGA, Enugu State, MASSACRED AND DISMEMBERED a lot of them, without any respect or value for human life.
2. These itinerant herdsmen have indeed drawn a line on the sand, and their actions and audacity will no longer be discountenanced. We must take steps to reduce the chances of re-occurrence of this kind of evil, again.
3. Surely, we will not do anything illegitimate to express our displeasure in the killings of our people in our own land, by these itinerant Fulani herdsmen.
4. Our people were killed for Cows; and Cows we shall detest!
5. We must express our disgust, in the modus operandi of the Security apparatus of this country. Security of lives and properties, have long been thrown into the winds, and people are dying like flies that encountered pesticide, and properties are being lost on daily basis from insecurity. Each time there is a heinous crime in this country, the security hierarchy will tell us that they will investigate and get to the root of the matter, and will bring the perpetrators to book, BUT no feedback of such investigations are ever heard again ad infinitum, examples abound. Till now we are still waiting to get report or feedback about the mystery multitude of corpses deposited at Ezu River, Amansea, Ugwuoba Enugu State few years ago.
6. Our confidence greatly dwindles, as we believe, from experience, that the circumstances surrounding this current MASSACRE of our people at Nimbo Uzouwani; has, from the date of the incident, commenced its journey to being swept under the carpet. The Security network of the country should be accountable, up and doing, so as to restore our confidence.
7. No reasonable person should try to politicize this issue of this ‘Nimbo Massacre’, by trying to make caricature of identity of the perpetrators of this heinous crime, which is well known to our people, to be the Fulani herdsmen.
8. The pains of the killings of our brothers and sisters at Nimbo, in this millennium, in the manner the herdsmen did it recently, will NEVER go, unless strategic sanctions follow. We can NEVER mourn our brothers with continuous patronage to the blood-suckers, and vandals who brazenly trespass our backyards and farmlands in the name of feeding their cows. They feed their cows with our farm produce, impoverishing our people with failed agricultural yields; and finally they sell their Cows to us, and also sell their Farm produce, from their own undisturbed farmlands to us. Yet, no appreciation whatsoever is accorded to our cooperation, rather they killed and massacred our people (their major customers).
9. We are not at war with the herdsmen, yet they treated us like this in our own country, and in our own land! 10. The intensity, frequency and ferocity of clashes between herdsmen and rural farmers especially in the North-Central and Southern Nigeria constitute a clear and present danger to our national cohesion. The number of deaths, burnt houses, rapes, and murder of citizenry are too gruesome to be acceptable to any government.
11. The present situation and development of killings of our people at Nimbo, is unacceptable, and an affront to the peaceful communities trying to irk out a living from subsistence farming in their own home.
12. Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo also maintains that cattle rearing is a private business like every other business. It is therefore an absurdity, an infringement and abuse of citizens’ right for any legislator or Federal Government to think of acquiring other peoples’ land, for other peoples’ business, as suggested by the Grazing Reserve Bill 2016 being discussed by the National Assembly. We therefore totally dissociate ourselves from that. Such idea is unjust, unconstitutional, discriminatory and unfair.
13. It also baffles us that the herdsmen are allowed to bear prohibited sophisticated firearms, and are NEVER arrested, while for other Nigerians it is against the law. Suffice it to say that justice demand that everybody should be given equal privilege in that regards; or they should be checked and disarmed as a matter of urgency, and publicly prosecuted accordingly. Concerned Imeobi Members of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Worldwide therefore maintains as follows:

14. It is high-time our people are encouraged to defend themselves, “first”, before placing reliance on any other person; and should articulate themselves to wade-off any invader in future.
15. Our people should learn and imbibe the culture of being ready to defend themselves legitimately at all times, and at all levels; at least to offer reasonable defence, in event of any impromptu attack, as we the Igbos are vulnerable and are grossly endangered.
16. That the National Executive Council of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo MUST set up as a matter of urgency, a ‘Security & Strategic endurance Committee’, and a ‘Central coordinating Security sub-Committee on Town Unions, Vigilante groups and Neighborhood watchers’.
17. That we cannot mourn our kiths and kin, and the hostility against us in our own land by the continuous patronage of our assailants; hence ALL FAMILIES IN IGBO LAND SHOULD DE-LIST BEEF FROM THEIR MENU. There should be an outright indefinite suspension on the consumption of cow meat by any Igboman in Nigeria, even Cow SUYA. This should be one of the ways, we can mourn and remember our people that were massacred because of ‘common Fulani Cows’. In alternative, our people can go for the consumption of Igbo Specie of Cows, Goat, sheep, fowls etc.
18. There SHALL be no more use of Fulani Cows for any Ceremony like Burials, Funerals, Weddings, Marriages, Thanksgivings, Celebrations etc, in Igbo land.
19. Our youths should start as a matter of urgency to commence breeding ‘Igbo Cows’ for it to be used in place of Fulani cows in our ceremonies etc. Our Philanthropist should fund this project for the youths in their various domains.
20. Honour and respect should be accorded more to any man or family who uses ‘Igbo cows’ for his ceremonies, as he or she is the true mourner, of our dead brothers at Nimbo Uzouwani; and also the person with the best interest of Ndi Igbo at heart.
21. That our people who deal on these Fulani Cows should as true mourners of our dead brothers and sister, takes the needed steps to diversify their trade and de-emphasis Fulani Cow meat.
22. Our people who are hoteliers, should quietly de-list beef from their menu (Except if it is Igbo Specie of Cow), in our collective interest.
23. Ohanaeze Ndi igbo will need the cooperation of every Igbo family on the face of earth to achieve our goal; of eradicating blood thirsty vagabonds around us, who have no value for human life; especially by complying with the above stipulations.
24. Town Unions, Village and kindred formations, Neighborhood Watch groups and Vigilante groups are to discreetly sanction and surcharge anyone of us who purchases or slaughters Fulani cow in his domain for any ceremony within the South- East. Such persons should be considered Saboteurs of our collective interest as Ndi Igbo, should be handled as a Traitor , by their own kinsmen, according to their individual local traditions and culture. Any sanction should be done without infringing on any dissident’s right, but in line with the tradition and customs of the concerned locality.
25. He, who kills his customers, will no longer expect patronage; as he has killed his market! The Fulani herdsmen have overstepped their bounds in the South Eastern Nigeria, and they have killed their market with us; hence should find elsewhere.
26. All Igbo formations anywhere in the World, should rise up to condemn this attack on our peaceful home, and demand arrest and public prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime against us. No Igboman or Woman, or group should shut up; Voice out!, Killings are taboo and abomination in our own land! It will NEVER be treated with kid glove!

27. That this massacre, is the first major massacre against the Igbo man in his own land since after the civil war ended in 1970. Hence 25th April, 2016 should be remembered by our people, as a mark of further aggression on our peaceful domain.
28. A day will be set aside for the mourning of our lost kith and kin who were slaughtered and massacred by the Fulani herds men, in our own land. On such day, all markets, shops, and private trades and corporate offices of any Igboman will shut down in solidarity. Professional groups like NBA in the South East, will be expected to join in solidarity, except those on essential services like NMA. And no Igbo man (except civil Servants) will visit any government office (except Hospitals) in Nigeria for any transaction, on the said date.
29. The State Houses of Assembly in all South Eastern states should as a matter of urgency pass a bill that will forbid any one from parading cattle across our farmlands, without being restrained, and without obtaining state issued license, and Local Government permits.
30. That the Fulani herdsmen should as a matter of urgency vacate our backyards and farmlands as their security is no longer guaranteed, because of their crime against us, and because of the prevailing distrust. Every person, village and groups should join hands and legitimately treat them like trespassers. They are violent trespassers, which ought not to be condoned; and they are also nuisance that ought to be abated.
31. Communities, businessmen and well meaning Igbo philanthropists should help equip and motivate the vigilante groups and neighborhood watches, in the South East.
32. We warn our people against any unwholesome attitude, of betraying our collective interest, especially those who might be gullible to the extent of receiving gratifications and conniving with the Fulani herdsmen for economic gains, to perpetually seed out the land of their people. Serious complaints have so far been received about the President General and Traditional Ruler of Igboariam in Anambra East LGA, Anambra State; and we expect them to watch their steps.
33. We know that some insensitive Igbo People, will try to make caricature of these sanctions, and flout it; but do not join them, for they shall, at the fullness of time, return to folk like the prodigal son.
34. Let Ndi Igbo start with the above position, and see to which extent it can carry us. Enough is Enough! God bless Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo! God bless the Igbo man !

Boko Haram: Again, MASSOB advises Ndigbo to return home

Boko Haram: Again, MASSOB advises Ndigbo to

 return home

on    /   i
BY NWABUEZE OKONKWO
ONITSHA – As the dreaded Boko Haram sects continues to massacre innocent Nigerians in the North Eastern part of the country, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday , for the second time warned Igbo resident there to return home or remain in the north at their own peril

Sounding this note of warning in Onitsha, Anambra State, the MASSOB National Red Cross Chairman, Engr. Osondu Okwaraeke recalled that prior to the peak of the killings, the MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike had urged Igbo resident in the volatile area of the north to return home, adding that wazuruike even went as far as providing transport and other logistics to them for easier evacuation.
According to him, “so, no sympathy for victims of Boko Haram because a stitch in time saves nine”.
Commending Uwazuruike for the assistance, Okwaraeke also recalled that Uwazuruike, as a true Igbo leader had equally donated materials and food items to 2012 flood victims at Aguleri, including drugs, shelter, food, water and security.
He emphasized that Uwazurike had specifically sent about 200 luxury buses to our people in the north to bring them back because of the killing of people by the terrorists, yet many of them did not return and some of those who returned, later went back to the north, thinking that the war had ended.
He therefore called on the United Nations, Catholic Pontiff, Israel and other world leaders to come to the rescue of MASSOB to help actualize Biafra Republic.
Also contributing, the MASSOB Director of Sanitation in Ekwusigo Region, Chief Emma Dinyelu urged all members to ensure the cleanliness of their regions on 29 May 2014, (Biafra Heroes’) Day celebrations which is scheduled for May 30, 2014, adding that Biafra is a clean nation and as such should be kept clean always.

Police Commissioner Orders ‘Secret’ Arrest of Ohaneze Ndigbo President

Police Commissioner Orders ‘Secret’ Arrest of Ohaneze Ndigbo President

(Chief Tobias Idika, President, Ohaneze Ndigbo Kano)

The junta days of security intimidation of activists appears on the return in Kano State.
Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the Police Commissioner in Kano State has ordered the ‘secret’ arrest of the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo – Kano Chapter, Chief Tobia Idika. As gathered, the DPO [Shaibu Bello] overseeing the Nomansland division near Sabon Gari Kano has been on a secret search throughout the Sabon Gari – in hunt for Chief Tobia Idika. Shaibu Bello is reported to be searching through the residences in Sabon Gari – in a manner – suggesting that he was in search for a common criminal.
When contacted as to why he [Shaibu Bello] was hunting for Chief Idika, he responded that “it is orders from above” – that the top bosses wanted Chief Idika arrested and brought in for ‘questioning’.
When Chief Idika contacted the Police Commissioner concerning the active/aggressive hunt by Shaibu Bello, the Police Commissioner, according to Chief Idika, yelled at the top of his voice – that he [Idika] “knows what to do“. The Commissioner dropped the line and hung up. When Chief Idika called again, the Commissioner told him to file a report.
Meanwhile, the Ohaneze leader who has been outspoken over the maltreatment meted out to the Igbo population in Kano, told our correspondent that he has been receiving death threats at a higher frequency since the Police DPO began hunting for him. ”I have been receving calls from an undisclosed number telling me that my days are numbered. The caller calls himself Dagogo“, said Chief Idika. He went to share a sms message he received on August 1, 2013 at about 1:44pm from +2348180689050 which reads “Very soon your chapter will close if you don’t run. Be warned
Chief Idika has since contacted the Director of the State Security Services [SSS].

How Igbo sons were killed and dumped in Ezu River

Victory for Radio Biafra as Senate finally release report on how Igbo sons were killed and dumped in Ezu River

Abomination in Igboland
Months of relentless campaign by Radio Biafra on the issue surrounding the dumping of over 100 bodies in Ezu River near Amansea has finally paid off as Nigerian government bow to pressure and orders release of the report many months after it was written.
In a report that possed more questions than it provided answers The Senate Report said it had uncovered the mystery surrounding the floating dead bodies found in Ezu River in Anambra State has been uncovered. The report however underplayed the true number of bodies found in the river.
Senate Joint Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence investigated the discovery of the “strange dead bodies” on the river.
The committee has given a graphic picture of how the youths died.
The committee, chaired by Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu and Senator Mohammed Magoro, presented shocking autopsy reports of the bodies.
The investigative report of the Joint Committee sighted by our correspondents in Abuja revealed that instead of 30, the victims of the gory incident were 19.

According the autopsy reports, 15 of the 19 bodies were seen.
Six bodies had evidence of gun shots.
The weapon used for all the shots is one type-long range rifle.
Aimed areas of the body: Legs up to the knee cap and some up to the hips.
All the victims dressed alike – boxers or pants.
Suspected cause of death – Hemorrhage resulting from unattended gun shots.
Though the committee submitted a detailed report, it could not establish who did the killings.
The true identities of the victims were also not established by the committee. The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB) told the committee that the victims were its members who were in police custody. The police denied the claim.
The Inspector General of Police told the Committee that on January 19, there was a report of 19 bodies floating on River Ezu, a boundary between Anambra and Enugu states, and that the Commissioners of Police in the states were informed through a phone call.
He said the bodies were found to be clean-shaven, able-bodied young men but that they were already decomposed.
Four of the decomposed bodies were displayed for eight days before they were taken for autopsy.
Nobody or community has complained that they have lost anybody, the IG said, but assured that the police were working with other Security agencies to get to the root of the issue.
The Director General (DG) of the State Security Service (SSS) told the committee that on January 19, 18 bodies were found floating on Ezu River.
He said the Anambra State Governor, who was informed immediately, cut-short a foreign trip and returned home to order the bodies to be removed from the river.
He said the strange development led to several conjectures, such as that they:
•were dumped by security agencies;
•were hired to fight in a war between Cross River and Ebonyi State where they were killed; but there were no signs of bullet wounds;
•were cultists;
•must have died from generator fumes in factories and were dumped there by private multinationals; and that
•they were kidnappers who decided to kill others to carry the ransom.
“All these were mere conjectures and that the result of the autopsy being awaited would expose the possible cause of deaths,” said the DG.
The SSS said the bodies could not have been thrown into the river without the knowledge of the communities.
On alleged complicity of the police, the DG told the committee that the service advocated an audit of suspects in police custody in Anambra and Enugu states.
When asked by the committee whether they ever went on joint operation to Onitsha, the SSS chief said “they went and arrested about 17 persons who were charged to court, the following day and were granted bail.”
The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, corroborated the account of the Director General, SSS.
On the number of bodies found, “security chiefs were unanimous that they were only 19, not 30 as was being speculated”.
On whether they actually wore identical clothes, boxer shorts and t-shirts, “they responded that they were actually not wearing identical clothes as some wore wrappersa and pants etc”.
According to the report, “the Igwe of Amansea told the committee that the bodies were first seen in the morning of January 19, by some indigenes who went to the river to fetch water.
“The person who actually saw the bodies first could not be identified, the committee said.
The Committee was shown the two graves where some of the bodies were buried but later exhumed.
The Deputy Governor, Mr. Sibeudu, who represented Governor Peter Obi, told the committee that as a result of the seriousness the governor attached to the issue, the government announced a cash reward of N5 million for information on the mystery, but that nobody came forward.
The Committee visited the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Enugu, where they inspected detention cells and facilities.
The Committee noted that after interactive sessions with several stakeholders and thorough investigations into the issue, it found:
•That Ezu River flows down from a town called Agbaogugu through Ogwuoba and Amansea communities and empties into the River Niger. It is a boundary between Aniansea community in Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State and Ugwuoba community in Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu State.
•that the river is the main source’ of drinking water for the two communities.
•that on the 19th January 2013, 18 strange dead bodies were found floating on the river. One more body was found on the 23rd of January, bringing the total member of bodies found to 19.
•that the bodies were already decomposed at the time they were found, suggesting that they must have died some days earlier before they were dumped.
•that all the bodies were brought out of the river on the instructions of the Governor of Anambra State.
•Some were taken for autopsy; others were buried along the river bank, but were later exhumed for autopsy.
•That there is a police check-point just about 100 metres away from the river on Anambra State side and another one five kilometers on the Enugu State side, and that this check point had been in existence for the past three years.
The Committee recommended “that further forensic analysis of the bullet still lodged in one of the bodies should be carried out so as to ascertain the exact type of gun that fired it and where it is commonly found.
“That the Anambra State Government should also be encouraged to carry out a more thorough DNA test on the bodies as requested by the pathologists.”
Radio Biafra campaign will not cease until the true numbers established during the various Senate sessions in Anambra and Enugu States are made public. The mass graves where the victims were buried should also be made public and so is the detailed autopsy report.
Peter Obi and the administration of Goodluck Jonathan will continue to be dogged by this issue until all the truth comes out. Radio Biafra has indicated through the Editorial Board that Ezu River atrocity is a signature headline for the organisatio and will remain so until justice is served.

Igbo Leaders Angry Over Killings In The North

Igbo Leaders Angry Over Killings In The North

Emeka-anyaoku

Direct Women, Children To Return Home

Set Up Resettlement Camp

RISING from an all-inclusive meeting in Enugu, Igbo leaders, yesterday, condemned what they described as the deliberate destruction of property and incessant killing of their kinsmen in the northern parts of the country by the Boko Haram sect.

At a meeting convoked by the southeast governors, at the Nike Lake Hotel, Enugu, under the aegis of the Southeast leaders Forum, the leaders expressed anger over the spate of killings going on in the country, even as they expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Federal Government in containing the situation.

Reading a one-page statement after the meeting, chairman of southeast governors forum and Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, said that a committee had been set up to monitor developments as it unfolds with regards to the spate of killings.

The meeting assured Igbos residing in the north and other parts of the country that “we are in constant touch with the various state governments to ensure the security of lives and property.”

Also present at the meeting held at Nike Lake were Governors Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi), Theordore Orji (Abia), Rochas Okorocha (Imo).

There were also Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Secretary to Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Ministers Chukwuemeka Wogu, Bart Nnaji, Viola Onwuliri; Senators Chris Ngige, Uche Chukwumerije, Chris Anyanwu, President of the Ohanaeze, General Ralph Uwaechue, chief Olisa Metu, and Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

Others are Rtd Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Chief Nnaemeka Achebe, Senator Ben Obi, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Prof Chinedu Nebo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanynwu, Obiora Ike, Dr Tim Menakaya, Chief Victor Umeh, Prof Joe Irukwu and Major General Ike Nwachukwu [rtd], among others.

Although, they refused to entertain questions at the end of the meeting, a source told reporters that they would meet again in the next couple of days to review developments, stressing that Ndigbo may be forced to resort to self-defence should the killings continue.

After a different meeting that took place at the Enugu residence of the late Ex Biafran Warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Igbo elders urged their women and children living in the North to return home immediately.

They said their resolve to call for immediate return of women and children was informed by the mass killings of Ndigbo and bombings by the Boko Haram religious sect in the northern part of the country.

They stated that there was already an increased tension in the land by the activities of the Boko Haram, stressing that there was also an underground plot to again declare property of Ndigbo in parts of the country as “abandoned property,” should their owners leave them and return home.

Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazurike, who briefed newsmen at the end of the meeting, said the elders, however, advised Igbo men in the troubled areas to stay back and look after their investments for now.

“We are calling for immediate return of Igbo wives and children so that their safety can be assured here in the East; so, the Igbo Nation is once again facing an intending refugee crisis and our people are being forced to flee their homes and places of work,” he said.

The MASSOB boss, who briefed newsmen alongside former President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Justice Eze 0zobu (rtd), disclosed that the forum had set up settlement centers in the South East Geopolitical Zones for Igbos that were displaced by the Boko Haram activities in the North.

He advised returnees from the North who were yet to get shelter to meet the forum or go to one of the centers at Okwe in Imo State to stay.

He regretted that government had not done much to secure the lives and properties of people in the troubled areas despite the fact that Boko Haram had continued to carry out more attacks on innocent people.Publish Post

Uwazurike stated that the forum had also set up a committee to meet with President Good luck Jonathan immediately to ascertain his views on the situation.

While appealing to the churches to accommodate Igbo refugees, he warned that they would no longer fold their arms and watch Igbos being buried in mass graves.

From the names above, it’s clear that over 80% of the victims are Igbos. Earlier this year (2011) Vanguard newspapers of 12th January 2011 (online version) reported that the Igbo community lost 40 members from the Jos crisis of that month (the author has lost count of different Jos crises). From my own personal experiences: One of my uncle’s house was completely burnt down in one of the disturbances in Kano in 2004. My own immediate younger sister escaped death in one of the disturbances in Jos, Plateau State. The list(s) is endless. The trends are consistent. From the 1945, 1953, and 1966 pogrom where over 50,000 Igbos were killed thru the civil war (over 1 million Igbos died) till date, the Igbos have always been the targets. This is for no just cause. Lost properties, assets, etc cannot be quantified in monetary terms. The Igbos have also been punished is several ways (abandoned properties issue, giving of £20 to every Igbo person after the war, despite any amount he/she had before the war). Meanwhile, the Igbos have made the most sacrifices than any other tribe for the unity of the country.

As in the 1945, 1953, and 1966 pogrom against the Igbos where the federal government appeared helpless to defend and protect Ndiigbo, the subsequent governments have also followed similar trends, particularly in the Northern States where Igbo’s have consistently been killed since the end of the war till date. Simply put, the Igbos are endangered species. As you read thru this piece, please purse and observe a minute silence, for the souls of the innocent Igbo people and other Nigerians killed for nothing sake.

Enough is enough. No more shedding of Igbo bloods. Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu once said that, if the price of nationhood is constant shedding of bloods, then let us not be a nation. Well, since the government cannot protect its citizens and Ndiigbo in particular, then Igbos have no choice but to protect themselves with all means necessary. Igbos should remember that self-preservation is the strongest human instinct. This is the time for the Igbos to sink all their differences and unite for the purposes of securing the safety of their lives and properties all over Nigeria. The Igbos must rise up together to face this challenges or continue to be killed every time. What affects one Igbo person directly, affects all Igbos indirectly. I therefore call on all Igbos, (All Ezes, Ohanaeze, all Igbo communities home and abroad, all Igbo unions home and abroad, etc) to immediately seek the ways out of these constant killings.

Perhaps, Igbos should start relocating their businesses and families out of the Northern region, reject youth service postings in the Northern region etc. This is because, they are simply the first targets to be killed at the slightest disturbances that does not concern them. Life first before anything else. However, the government must pay compensation to all those innocent families that lost their loved ones. The fault is not theirs. America and United Kingdom paid compensation to the various families of 9/11 (September 11, 2001) and 7/7 (7th July 2005) terrorist attacks in New York and London. May the souls of those innocent people that were killed, rest in peace. May God also bless Nigeria.
